Accessibility
People with reduced mobility
A fixed access ramp is available in the courtyard for a door width of 74 cm. Another removable access ramp is available for wider wheelchairs, on request. Access to the foyer is via the Resto entrance under the porch. Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance from our reception staff.
Shows at L’Envers are accessible to PRMs, but there is no toilet. The entrance to the Salle L’Envers is via rue des Tanneurs 87 (1000 Brussels). It is 30 metres from door to door.
Shows performed in the small auditorium (at the back of the theatre) are not wheelchair accessible. To access the small auditorium, you must go through the back of the theatre (rue Vanderhaegen 30, 1000 Brussels). There are 160 metres from door to door. There is then a flight of stairs to get there.
If you are coming from the rue Blaes, it is best to go via the rue Saint-Ghislain (rather than the rue des Capucins, where the pavements are impractical).
We have designed daily itineraries for people with reduced mobility for the XS Festival. These itineraries include shows that are accessible to wheelchair users. Discover them on the XS Festival: Information page.
Hearing accessibility
The shows in the main auditorium (with and without text) are accessible to the hearing impaired via a high-definition headphone system. This system, which operates via wifi, picks up all the sounds of the show – music, background sounds, actors’ voices – which are picked up by microphones and redistributes them over the wifi network. Hearing-impaired spectators can use an application to access these sounds and choose the volume. You can download the application directly by following this link. Headphones and smartphones are available free of charge.
We also provide balloons that allow you to feel the vibrations caused by the soundscapes of the shows. These balloons are available for shows identified by our team as naturally accessible* to deaf and hard-of-hearing people:
Shows with French surtitles: Future Lovers by La Tristura, One Night at the Golden Bar by Alberto Cortés, Timber by Cie Still Life, When I Saw the Sea by Ali Chahrour.
Shows without text: Whispers by Cie Mossoux-Bonté, Dimanche by Focus & Chaliwaté, Béton by Julien Carlier/Cie Abis.
To benefit from a balloon or the high-definition headphone system, you can notify us by email in advance (before 6pm on the day of your visit) and/or speak to our reception staff on the evening of your visit, who will take care of you.
* These labels have been carefully considered with specialist associations, but remain subjective and probably premature with regard to shows currently in development. Please feel free to contact us to discuss this further.
Specific systems
We want to provide access to certain shows through special arrangements. For example, we have already worked with the I See Foundation, which has offered a translation of images. We have also offered live translation in LSFB.
European Disability Card
Holders of the European Disability Card benefit from our reduced rate, as does the person accompanying a disabled person.
Reduced rate for shows during the season: €10
Reduced rate for the XS Festival: €15
